Summer Wind's replacement
Summer Cloud was commissioned in 1995 by Antiguan businessman Eddie Barreto to replace his previous sloop, Summer Wind, sunk in the port of Antigua. It was used for fishing, raced in numerous Caribbean regattas, and served as a floating residence for filmmaker Charles Hambleton during the filming of Pirates of the Caribbean.
The keel was laid in 1995 and the boat launched in 1998. It was then lengthened to its current length of 42 feet by Andrew Robinson, at the Woodstock shipyard in Antigua, just before the pandemic and during a major rebuild campaign.
Until then without an engine, Summer Cloud had to be towed in and out of the port of Saint Barthélemy. Purchased in 2026 by Bryn, he undertook to fit an engine to it, refresh it and relaunch it in the region's races: the West Indies Regatta of Saint Barthélemy in 2026, the Classic Regatta of Antigua and the Carriacou Regatta Festival 2027, while remaining based in Barbados.
