Callistus Enoe's first boat

Its construction was financed by Thierry de Badereau, who was captivated by the West Indies Regatta and the lifestyle that surrounds it.

Free in St Barth is considered the first boat built by Callistus Enoe. Callistus was only advised by his father., Alwyn Enoe.

November 2015: Windward's successor

Free was launched on Sunday, November 8, 2015 on Windward Beach. Its mast was placed in Harvey Vale, on the other side of the island, then Callistus Enoe embarked for the crossing to Antigua.

For the Caribbean Compass, it was a turning point: the first boat built by Alwyn Enoe's sons, and the first of a new generation of shipwrights.

Its owner, Thierry de Badereau, has since become an ambassador for wooden shipbuilding, a know-how that the West Indies Regatta wants to keep alive.

From the Woodstock construction site in Antigua to the clothing brand

After being launched, the sloop set sail for the Woodstock shipyard in Antigua for the installation of the engine, propeller, and mast. Cal was part of the voyage.

The boat served as the face of the clothing brand Free in St Barth, owned by Thierry de Badereau.

A home port in Windward

The boat was intended to operate charter trips with clients in Saint Barthélemy. Overly complex European regulations made this activity too difficult to implement in French territory.

Free in St Barth is now based in Windward, on the island of Carriacou. The sloop sometimes goes out to sea with local clients, and Cal continues to take care of its maintenance.

Faithful to the West Indies Regatta

Free in St Barth made its debut at the West Indies Regatta in 2016, where the sloop took first place. It won the event again in 2024.

Almost every year, the boat returns to Saint Barthélemy for the West Indies Regatta. The only exception was 2025: an unfortunate incident slightly damaged the boat on some rocks.

Free has since been restored and participated in the 2026 regattas. The sloop distinguished itself once again with its speed, but also with its crew, largely composed of sailors from Carriacou. On July 31, 2026, Free in St. Barth won the circumnavigation of the island during the Carriacou Regatta Festival.
